Welcome to the Sohrabi lab

Part of the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Texas at Arlington

C. elegans is a millimeter-sized transparent nematode with a lifespan of 2-3 weeks. It is a great model organism for biological research, disease modeling, and drug discovery. Manual handling of these animals is extremely laborious.

Sohrabi lab engineers novel technologies for worm assays to study aging, age-related decline, and molecular mechanism of diseases. Our research is highly interdisciplinary, and we will also closely collaborate with molecular biologists and neuroscientists to study metabolism, stress resistance, neurodegeneration, and pathogenesis.

Philosophy

The Sohrabi lab is about collaboration and sharing of ideas. We are committed to facilitating scientific training, pursuing rigorous research, and making innovative discoveries as a team. We aim to foster creativity and learning while promoting personal and professional growth.

The Sohrabi lab is also dedicated to maximizing diversity and promoting equality. We will leverage our privilege to support scientists from all genders, ethnicities, classes, nationalities, abilities, and orientations as they pursue their career goals. We strongly encourage scientists from groups historically excluded from science to apply to the lab.

We are currently recruiting scientists at undergraduate and graduate level!
